A Visit to White Castle in Scottsdale, Arizona

After months of LONG lines spilling out the door, the White Castle frenzy has finally calmed down a bit. Of course I went at 10:30 pm on a Thursday night, even then, still pretty busy.  However, ordering was easy, and there were tables available, so no complaints by me.  BY 11:00 pm it was super busy and indoor seating was limited. Nevertheless, there was ample seating outdoors, a covered and somewhat inviting area with large heaters that looked adequate for a typical Scottsdale winter night.

White Castle has a new and updated look, unlike the Chicago White Castle I remember during the 60’s.  Times change, but there was a subtle hint of white & blue subway tile here and there, just enough to keep history alive for those of us old enough to remember.

But honestly, White Castle should be white, instead, the Scottsdale location looks like every other building in the desert, boring.
Here’s the new modern White Castle, I expected something a little different…

The packaging was different, the cups were different, everything was different! Except for two things… you can still see the food being made, and most importantly, it tasted exactly the same. However, I must mention, it was a little disappointing the bags were brown instead of their icon white…. just sayin’.

Price for 10 hamburgers, 2 cokes, 2 fries, $16. & change.  Overall, I’m just happy to have our very own White Castle right here in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Of course it’s not exactly what I remember… after all, isn’t that what keeps memories alive? 🙂
