Sharing Techniques for Managing Anxiety

I never really understood what it meant to suffer from anxiety. Being stressed out is just a common term used by most people when they are temporally upset. That’s different, life is full of stressful moments, they come and go, some people are able to just shake it off, but some can’t let it go, and ultimately it can affect their physical and mental well being.

If your reading this, you’re most likely looking for a way to be more in control of your anxiety, wanting to be one of those shake it off & let it go people. Well, me too. Unfortunately, we are more like a work in progress. We are who we are, and it’s imperative to our good overall health to keep learning how to control or manage our bouts of anxiety.

I’m a great advice giver, cuz I know all the things we should do when anxiety strikes, but I also know it’s not always easy to apply what we know is best. It’s hard for me to follow my own advice, I’ll admit that! You know what to do too, applying techniques successfully is always the hard part. The best anxiety reliever is keeping the mind busy or occupied with things like reading, art, journaling, knitting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, etc. Anything to keep the negative thoughts from reoccurring is the best way to battle anxiety. I don’t know why we focus on bad thoughts, the what ifs, and worrying over the things we have no control over, but we do.

Somebody once told me that worrying is useless… unless it can change the outcome of a problem. Think about that, does what your worrying about have the power to change the outcome? Probably not. Is it possible, no, probable, that what your worrying about won’t ever even happen? Yep.
So lets be serious here, we are allowing not only negative thoughts, but useless thoughts to have the power of altering our happiness, health, and well being. So, what can we do about this? We must learn to help ourselves by not allowing ourselves to fall into that trap. There are many different ways to do that, you just have to find what works for you. I hope I can help you find your way out of the turmoil & be reunited with your inner peace….

  • Consider a pet. It’s nice to be needed and unconditionally loved.
  • Take a class
  • Volunteer
  • Learn a new skill, knitting, crochet, woodworking, ceramics, painting, etc
  • Set a goal and work towards it!
